ASREP Joins the NDMA Road Race for Peace & Resilience 2026

ASREP Africa joined the **National Drought Management Authority (NDMA)** and community members from **Samburu, Isiolo, Laikipia, Garissa, and Meru Counties** for the **2026 NDMA Road Race for Peace & Resilience**.

Running for a shared cause

The road race brought people together across county lines around a common message: that drought risk and insecurity are shared challenges best met through cooperation. Centred on **drought risk, early warning, and cross-county peaceful coexistence**, the event used a simple, unifying activity to strengthen the relationships that underpin community resilience.

Peace and resilience are inseparable

In the drylands, competition over water and pasture during dry spells can drive conflict between neighbouring communities. Linking peacebuilding to drought preparedness — as this race did — reflects ASREP's integrated approach: durable peace and climate resilience reinforce one another.

Standing with communities

ASREP's participation alongside NDMA and residents of five counties underscores its commitment to locally led peacebuilding and to the partnerships that help ASAL communities anticipate, absorb, and recover from climate shocks together.
